3 Things I Do In The Winter For Better Health

Winter time is one of the most important times to take care of your health. Between the cold weather, short daylight hours and sicknesses going around quick, winter is the time of the year when you want to prioritize yourself and your wellbeing. There are many habits I love to add to my routine during the winter like bundling up and going out for a winter walk, making an adaptogen hot cocoa weekly, include more reading time, etc. I love embracing the seasons within my wellness routine, but most importantly in a way that benefits my health during each season. The main focus for me in the winter is to make sure I have a healthy immune system and to give my skin the love it needs when it feels dull and dry. Below are a few things I recommend prioritizing over winter.

get in more vitamin c

Vitamin C whether through a supplement or food, offers some amazing benefits for you during winter. Vitamin C helps to support your immune system because it contains powerful antioxidants. Vitamin C can actually help reduce your chances of catching a cold. It can also help to give you healthier skin. Vitamin C helps to brighten dull and tired skin as well as promote more hydrated skin. There are many Vitamin C rich foods that are in season during winter like citrus and kale that you should stock up on all winter.

prioritize sleep

Sleep is so important for your overall health and especially in the winter time. Sleep helps to promote a healthier immune system which is important to help you avoid sicknesses. Sleep is also important for skin health. If you experience dry, dull and puffy skin during winter, make sure to prioritize sleep. Sleep can also give you more energy which is essential during the darker and colder days of the year.

vitamin rich soups

Soups are a great way to pack in lots of vitamins and nutrients which is what your body needs during winter to stay healthy. Plus, they are comforting and feel so nourishing as you eat them which is essential during the colder months. Soups are easy to make which is why I love them during the winter when I don’t have the energy to cook. All you need is some broth, veggies, seasonings, protein and you can make a delicious soup. This is one of my favorite soup recipes.
