The Things That Are Bringing Me Joy During This Fall Season

Fall season has just begun and I am over the moon! It is my favorite season. I am a girl who was born and raised in New England. I spent every fall season going leaf peeping, apple picking, heading out to the pumpkin patch and watching pumpkin catapulting contests (yes that is a thing), making hundreds of apple pies and turnovers with my grandmother in New Hampshire, heading to Boston for outdoor fall festivals and so much more. While I am not in New England for Autumn this year, I am finding things to help spark joy in my life.

  • The cinnamon witches broom stick from Trader Joes. I honestly rarely shop at Trader Joes (I am a Whole Foods devotee) but I heard about the cinnamon broom sticks and I had to get one. I am obsessed. My home smells like cinnamon and it has totally gotten me into the fall mood.

  • Fall candles. I have serious issues with regular candles/soy candles. I am severely allergic (this is new in the past 4 years) and the ingredients are toxic anyways. I decided to make my own out of beeswax and essential oils and I have to say that I will never go back to store bought candles again! I can finally light a candle and breathe! I used this recipe here. I bought all of the items from amazon. The recipes suggest double boiling but I just melted the wax in the sauce pan (just make sure it is one you will use only for candles and not to eat because it will stick to the pan!). I created two scents for my candles. Orange cinnamon- orange essential oil and cinnamon essential oil mixed; Pumpkin spice- Nutmeg essential oil, cinnamon essential oil, cloves essential oil. I highly recommend doing this!

  • Adding pumpkin puree to just about everything I make! Pumpkin has so many amazing benefits! I have been adding a scoop to pancakes, smoothies, marinara sauce and cashew sauces. It adds a very mild and subtle flavor and SO many vitamins and minerals like Vitamin A, C and E.

  • The pumpkin tortilla chips from Trader Joes. These are not the healthiest chips BUT they are tasty. I am obsessed and I will enjoy them once in a while through fall. They are perfect for a game day snack.

  • Hot coffee. I am usually an iced coffee girl, but this year I am craving all the hot coffee (this could be because we finally bought a coffee maker that keeps the coffee hot for hours!). I have been mixing in a little pumpkin pie spice and almond milk creamer. I also am loving mochas lately!

  • Pumpkin pancakes! We have been making the Simple Mills pancake mix and adding in pumpkin spice! It is so delicious (maybe the best pancakes I have ever had).

  • Restarting Gilmore Girls on Netflix. It is still my favorite show after all these years. Yes it is a fall show in my opinion and it just makes it feel like fall when it is on the tv).

  • Sweet potato fries. I do make these year round BUT they are extra good during fall time (especially the Japanese potatoes!). To make them feel a little more like fall I love to add ground cinnamon!

  • Mini pumpkins!! Who doesn’t love mini pumpkins!? I found some at Trader Joes for less than 70 cents! The are the perfect inexpensive fall decor item that looks good anywhere you place it and it won’t take up any room in your storage room during the off seasons!

  • Thrive Markets Pumpkin Spice Coffee. It is unlike any pumpkin coffee that I have had before and it is delicious!

  • Homemade pumpkin sugar scrubs and pumpkin facial masks are my fall bffs. Making body scrubs is so easy, you just need to mix together sugar, coconut oil and pumpkin. I also love adding pumpkin to yogurt for a fun facial mask.

  • Pumpkin Bread!! Checkout my latest pumpkin bread recipe here. It is SO good!

  • Sweaters and cozy socks! I am loving anything that feels warm and fuzzy right now!

Let me know what is bringing you joy this fall!
