Wedding Planning Part 2
It has been a while since I posted a wedding update. We are still on for our original date in June of 2021. Everything is going as planned with the exception of new health and safety guidelines at our wedding venue.
It is wild to think that Bobby and I got engaged over a year ago and our wedding is only 3 months away! We are so excited and it is finally time to start planning all the finer details. In my last wedding update (which you can access here), I shared a few things that I had done already. Now that all of the big stuff is done, we are working on things such as finalizing our guest list, looking for wedding rings, picking out cake designs, planning wedding gifts and favors, creating playlists, getting ready for our bridal shower and bachelorette/bachelor parties, etc. I didn’t realize all of the things that went into wedding planning and how overwhelming it can truly be! I thought the stressful part was over after we booked our venue and vendors… but that was the easy part, at least for me!
Long story short, Bobby and I got engaged in December of 2019 and we started planning immediately. We originally planned for June of 2021 and it hasn’t changed. While we are both SO excited, I am just ready to be married at this point. Between all of the planning left to do and how long we have waited, I just want to be married already. If you have had to reschedule your wedding because of Covid-19 or if you’ve been waiting a year and a half like we did, you might be feeling the same way! I am not wishing the day away by any means but I am getting impatient and I want to push past all the stress of the planning.
Here are a few things I am doing to help keep me centered.
Reminding myself of the vision I had for the wedding- It is so easy to wish that you decided to just elope, but remind yourself of your original wedding vision. I often take a look at my Pinterest page to remind myself what I wanted for the big day.
Keep a checklist- This has been a huge help for getting things checked off.
Do at least 1 task a week- This has helped me remain excited and kept me from feeling overwhelmed over the planning process. 1 week for creating the guest list, another week for suit shopping, etc.
Okay, maybe the real reason that I want to jump past the wedding planning process is because I can’t wait to honeymoon!
Our honeymoon plans have changed a lot over the past year. We had planned to go to the Algarve Coast in Portugal, Barcelona, Spain and Thailand. We had all of our hotels and activities planned out. Luckily we decided to wait to book because of the pandemic. Sadly, we are not going to any of those places. Our new plan is to go to Mexico. If that doesn’t workout then we are planning to stay at a resort in California. If we can’t travel at all then our plan is to do a staycation close to our home in Arizona. Either way we are planning on honeymooning and I honestly cannot wait!
Since we are three months out, I have also created a wedding fitness and nutrition plan for myself. My goal for our wedding is to look and feel my best. I want to feel glowing, confident and toned.
Here are some things that I will be incorporating into my fitness/nutrition routine:
Running- I love to run and when we moved to New York I stopped because there were no sidewalks and it was cold. So I am excited to pick up this habit!
More walks- I usually take my dog on a daily walk and I listen to a podcast (plus it is a great way to get Vitamin D).
More arm workouts- I am usually called to do more booty workouts, but I would like to tone my arms more for the big day.
No added sugar- I am cutting out all white sugar as well as very limited to no coconut sugar maple syrup, etc. Instead I will be sticking to dates and date syrup if sweeter is needed.
Cutting out processed and fried foods- This has helped so much with bloat.
Cutting out alcohol- Since June of 2020 I have cut out alcohol almost entirely (with the exception of drinking in celebration once in a while). I have found that I feel better this way. This is a personal choice and I am not saying that you need to cut out alcohol to look or feel your best. Of course during my wedding events (bridal shower and bachelorette) I will enjoy some cocktails with my girlfriends.
Detox and beauty water- I am a huge fan of fruit infused water. I am trying to get into a daily habit of mint and cucumber infused water. I am also adding Sakaras beauty and detox drops to my water. This combination has been a game changer for my skin and my energy.
Metabolism Powder from Sakara- I have been loving this powder! I either add it to my smoothies or mix with coconut milk and sip. It is amazing for preventing bloat.
Supplements- This is something that I am trying to be better about! I have never stuck to the habit of taking daily vitamins, but I am still trying. The 3 vitamins that I am taking avidly for the wedding is Red Carpet by Hum, Vitamin E and Vitamin D.
Healthy fats- I am incorporating a lot of olive, coconut and avocado oil as well as olives and salmon.
Something else that I have been really excited about is my outfits!
I have been shopping for outfits for my bridal shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, wedding day (getting ready and wedding accessories) and the honeymoon. I never realized all of the events that you need white clothes for when you are eating married! While I am trying to keep in mind that I do have a wedding budget, I am also very excited about this time in my life (that I have honestly spent my whole life dreaming about!) and I am okay with splurging on a new white bathing suit for my honeymoon.
Some of my favorite websites for wedding/honeymoon outfits are:
lulus.com
showmeyourmumu.com
petalandpup.com
graceloveslace.com (for wedding gowns and accessories)
Below is the mood board that I created for outfit inspo:
Seaside Ruffle Top, Swan Charmeuse & Ostrich Feather Wrap, Ellen PJ Dress, Hailee Sandal, Marvel Mini Dress, Power Of Love White Strapless Jumpsuit, Dinah White One Shoulder Dress, Claudia Crop Top, Pearl Drop Earrings
For all of you brides out there that are stressed out over planning… I feel you! It is a lot, and there are so many things that no one tells you before you start planning! A few resources that are great for planning, making hard decisions and figuring out how to plan are:
betches brides podcast- This is a great tool. There you will listen to conversations about how to make choices for your wedding day (especially choices that a lot brides struggle with but it is not often talked about). You will find a lot of great advice here.
Wedding wire- This is a great place to ask questions in a forum. You can get advice from other brides. If you are unsure if you are making the right call with decisions, spark a conversation on the site and see the advice from other bries roll in. It is a great way to get support from others, just beware of some of the negativity that can happen (which is common in public forums)
Theknot- This is where I am getting most of my information. I am using the knot for my wedding website and it is the host of my registry. There are other wedding websites out there but this one is by far the best in my opinion (plus it is free). It is also a great tool for information.
Wedding planning is a process! Remember that you are marrying the love of your life and that is what matters the most!
